Clarification on FFVII Remake’s “episodic” structure:

Although Square Enix wouldn’t go into too many details – and they wouldn’t say how many episodes FFVII REMAKE will be – they sent Kotaku this statement:

“It means instead of concluding in one entry, multiple entries are being considered in development. Each entry will have its own unique story. As a gaming experience, each entry will have the volume of content equal to a full-sized game.”

Ok well, a few good points have been made like maybe it being episodic means we’ll get the FULL vii timeline with less shoddy consolidation and possible expansion of some scenes. Shadi suggests the possibility of an episode played as Zack and that opens a door I hadn’t thought of….

My main concern though is how they’re going to release it? How many episodes over what span of time? Will it be dlc after purchasing the full game or will we have to pay full price for each installment? Please don’t let this drag out forever PLEASE

PlayStation Experience 2015: Final Fantasy VII Remake Conversation

During PSX 2015, FF7R producer Yoshinori Kitase spoke on the team’s approach to modernizing the game from the original Final Fantasy VII.

“I can’t say the new game is completely action-based, but it has more of that element and real-time than the previous game,” said Kitase. “However, what makes Final Fantasy and RPG different from other games is that the players have the ability to choose weapons, capabilities and magic to be strategic minded, so while the new game has more real-time element, it will also maintain that strategy building element, balancing these two factors perfectly to enhance the gaming experience.“

He also went on to mention, “The way we harnessed the power of the PlayStation 4 was to maintain the graphic quality of characters like Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith in the movie called Advent Children in our game, and this was the starting point. So, what we’re aiming for with the Final Fantasy VII Remake is to have the same quality of these characters in real-time.”
