I guess it’s a bit
more painful to see that Hide is alone, and confirms it, in both the
anime and manga.
I understand that
Kaneki cared about Hide a lot, and that he did everything to “protect
him”. But moments like this are hard. Moments when it seems that
Kaneki has left Hide behind for other people, are really sad. To see
Kaneki smiling, and embracing his new family, while Hide is alone, is
upsetting. These are instances when I’m angry at Kaneki, and I know
it’s not justified, but it’s not fair. There’s a common misconception
amongst the hidekane fandom that Hide didn’t care that Kaneki left,
and that it didn’t effect him, nor did it bring him any emotional
pain. But we can clearly see that Hide is sad and that he is hurting.
Again, I know that in the end, Kaneki “sacrificed” a lot for
Hide. But seeing him happy with his “family”, really makes me
wonder if at the time, Hide is on his mind.. And of course we can
argue that “he can’t think of Hide every second of the day”…but,
Hide thinks of him every second of the day.
The thing that
gets me the most about both these instances, is Hide himself
basically confirms that he’s lonely, and feeling left out. And we
know that he only wants to be with Kaneki and he’s hurting because of
it. But Kaneki seems very happy without him and that’s hard to grasp.
